Padmabhushan Dr. L H Hiranandani receives Lifetime Achievement Award in Healthcare by FICCI


Mumbai, August 29, 2012: Padmabhushan Dr. L H Hiranandani, Chairman of Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai today received the "Lifetime Achievement Award in Healthcare" presented by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Dr. L H Hiranandani, world-renowned Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon received the award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the healthcare industry not just in India but across the world.  This award was presented at a ceremony during FICCI Heal, 2012 in New Delhi by Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad. The award aims at felicitating individuals for their exceptional contribution to the healthcare industry for increased efficiency and improved performance of healthcare delivery globally.  
Accepting the award, Dr Hiranandani said, “I truly feel honored to receive this prestigious award. I foresee India as a healthier nation emulating global healthcare standards. Health has to be interpreted as a total quality of life. By setting up one of the best hospitals providing quality world class medical treatment, my endeavor has always been to set new benchmarks in patient care by making world medical care available to a larger segment”.
Being appointed as the Honorary Medical Director in 1972, Dr Hiranandani put his private practice on hold for a period of eight months to handle the entire medical aid for the drought affected people of Maharashtra. He also played a vital role in organizing medical treatment for the flood affected people of Bihar and Orissa, in the year 1973. 
Padmabhushan Dr Hiranandani retired as an Honorary ENT Surgeon at the age of 58 from Topiwala National Medical College, B.Y.L Nair Hospital Mumbai. He is the first Indian to be appointed as a member by the American Society of Head and Neck and has written many insightful journals and books which have been acknowledged by the healthcare industry across the world.
Dr L H Hiranandani is the recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan by the President of India in 1972. He has also been awarded with the SAARC Doctor of the Millennium award and first person to be honored with the Golden Award by the Board of International Federation of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck societies. In the year 1988, he also received in Dhanvantari Award and became the first person in the field of E.N.T. to receive this award. He was also appointed a member of the Advisory Committee by the Government of India, for opening of Private Medical Colleges in Maharashtra
