Gurgaon, May 25, 2012: The twinkle in the eyes and
the gleam of hope for a good future is just a fraction of the difference CHD
strives to make in the lives of underprivileged kids who loiter around on its
construction sites. As an extension of
their special social sensitization program “Komal Ankur”, CHD started yet
another heart-warming and credible CSR campaign – “Lend a Hand and spread the cheer”.
While “Komal Ankur” focused
on the emancipation of the girl child and environmental conservation, this
campaign aims to make a difference in the lives of the kids who are perhaps not
as blessed as other children. This initiative intends to sensitize the entire
CHD family and others to contribute towards their basic needs like clothing.
CHD had earlier started a crèche for the children of their construction site
workers which provides them not only shelter but food, play-zone and education
assistance as well.
The clothes and other items
were distributed amongst the kids by Mr. Rajesh Joshi, Head, Execution, CHD
Developers Ltd. The kids visibly could not hide their excitement on
receiving the clothes and toys which would otherwise have been a distant dream
for them.
On the occasion, Mr. Joshi said, said, “Carrying on with our
CSR endeavour we wanted to engage the entire CHD family in a campaign to
sensitize them to the needs of the underprivileged kids and encourage them to
extend a helping hand. I am overwhelmed to see the response of our employees
already. We will ensure that we come up with more such initiatives in the
future as well.”
Mr. Ravi Saund, COO, CHD Developers
Ltd. said, “We have to realize the
importance of adding value to the society. You don’t have to be a billionaire
to give back to the society. In our own small ways, we can contribute to the
community a little bit what we owe to it. With this campaign we are addressing
the basic but ignored need of clothing. Your kids’
used stuff lying in one corner of your house as junk has brought much needed
cheer and relief to these 50 kids who we give shelter in the crèche at Avenue
71”
Blame it on the busy life or the constraints that have circumscribed our
life, we ourselves have forgotten our duty and social responsibility. As
citizens of the liberal world we owe a lot to our fellow citizens and the
society at large. This campaign by CHD has encouraged and engaged people to
come out of their comfort zones and be part of the initiative that has lit up
the lives of these children.
Each member of the CHD
family contributed used and wearable clothes, toys, stationary and other items
for the kids. They also encouraged others to follow in their footsteps and
contribute whatever that can to this noble cause. They had kept separate boxes
for items marked “boy”, “girl” and “stationary”. At the end of the donation,
these items were distributed amongst the innocent kids at the crèche at their
project Avenue 71’s site.
CHD is happy that this campaign has been as huge a success as ‘Komal Ankur’
and has illuminated lives of these kids. After all, good wishes and heartfelt
prayers never go unnoticed.
