Saharasri Subrata Roy Sahara was welcomed to the leadership speaker series at IIMK on the 11th of February. A press conference was scheduled prior to the talk during which Mr Sahara spoke frankly and engagingly to the assembled reporters. He expressed his desire to enter the retail space in a large scale manner by creating what he termed as sophisticated and modern kirana stores to combat the sale of adulterated commodities in traditional kirana stores. He also intends to introduce new forms of technology in the entertainment and education sectors. He hopes to utilize the expertise of the best academic faculty for public education via television channels in a mode that will also permit certified courses. He promised not to let the supporters and players of Pune Warriors down by putting it up for sale. He also stated a desire to scale up operations in the state of Kerala.
Mr Sahara began his lecture by saying a few words about our understanding of ourselves in terms of the concept of “Adhyatma”. He spoke about life in terms of continual learning the love for those around us. He expressed the high expectations that the corporate world has from the students of the IIM fraternity as the managers of tomorrow who will fulfil the purpose of not only motivating ourselves but also those around us. The kind of motivation that is most purposeful and leads to satisfaction and happiness according to him is self motivation. He talked about the line dividing needs desire and greed which separates an individual’s pursuit of happiness from the pursuit of money.
The students got an opportunity to gain vital insights from one the giants of Indian Business and his journey through corporate India. Shri Subrata Roy also had a lengthy interactive session with the students of IIMK atferwards.

Earlier, Shri Subrata Roy inaugrated the plaque on Arjuna’s statue in front of the Campus and planted a sapling in the Campus to nuture the commitment to education and growth.
Shri Subrata Roy later paid a detailed visit to the Museum of Indian Business detailing the growth story of Indian Business, which is getting ready at IIM Kozhikode for inauguration soon. The Sahara India Parivar Group is setting up their pavilion in the Museum.
